Art in Activism Series: As part of my dissertation, I fostered a collaboration between the Big Brothers and Big Sisters, The Future is Us Galveston, and The Youth Rising Lab, to help design and implement a mental health informed Art and Activism workshop for Galveston student advocates and activists. The students studied the history of photography as a tool for societal change, as well as technical instruction from local photographers, as a means of consciousness-raising and civic engagement for positive youth development. This work was partially funded by the TAMU Racial and Ethnic Studies Institute.
